A Levin woman who allegedly threatened police with an axe, prompting an armed offenders squad (AOS) callout, has been arrested.
Police received a call about 7am on Thursday about a woman who had threatened another person with a hammer.
The woman was found and arrested, but she ran inside a house, locking herself in.
She then came to a window wielding an axe and threatened to hit the first officer that came through the door, police say.
They cordoned off the house and the AOS was called.
After attempts to get the woman to leave the house failed, AOS members went in and took the woman into custody without incident.
No one was injured.
The 35-year-old woman is set to appear in Levin District Court next Thursday on several weapon and assault related charges.
