Police believe they know the identity of a headless skeleton found in an Auckland garage late last year and they've made an arrest in connection with the investigation.
It's been confirmed the man, who is thought to have died in 2010, hadn't been reported missing.
A 24-year-old Auckland man has been arrested and charged with interfering with human remains as part of the investigation, police say.
The man is set to appear in Auckland District Court on Wednesday morning.
The skeleton was found at a Mt Wellington property in September by contractors who were demolishing a house.
Police had scoured missing persons lists for people who bore some similarity to the skeleton which was of a small man who stood about 1.6m tall.
Detective Sergeant Graham Shand told NZ Newswire in January there was a possibility the man hadn't been reported missing.
A limited edition Converse shoe released in 2007 found with the skeleton indicated the man died in the past four years.
