A man has been charged with attempted murder in Brisbane after allegedly assaulting and suffocating a woman before slashing her throat with a knife.
About 10.15am on Thursday, the 38-year-old woman visited a unit in Woodridge to collect property when the 35-year-old man, known to her, allegedly assaulted her.
The man contacted police an hour later and was arrested, before being transported to Logan Hospital where he remains under police guard.
He was charged with attempted murder and will face Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
The woman remains in a stable condition at the Princess Alexandra Hospital after suffering significant head and facial injuries.
