Palmer seizes back control of Qld Nickel

Clive Palmer is in a stand-off with the Queensland government over his ailing nickel refinery.

Clive Palmer has effectively seized back control of his ailing north Queensland nickel refinery by sidelining administrators that had been called in to manage it.

Administrators FTI Consulting announced on Monday that Queensland Nickel Pty Ltd had been replaced as the refinery's manager by Queensland Nickel Sales Pty Ltd, another company controlled by Palmer entities QNI Resources Pty Ltd and QNI Metals Pty Ltd.

"The actions of Clive Palmer, (Queensland Nickel Director) Clive Mensink, and their related entities are beyond the control of the Administrators," an FTI Consulting spokesman said in a statement.

"The Voluntary Administrators of Queensland Nickel Pty Ltd will continue to act in their capacity as Administrators of the Company, although will no longer have operational or management control of the Yabulu Refinery."
