A Queensland man charged with serious assault after a policeman allegedly lost two fingertips during his arrest has faced court.
Kasie Rice, 29, faced Townsville Magistrates Court on Wednesday on 18 charges, including three counts each of serious assault on a police officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Police say the senior constable was trying to take him into custody over parole breaches in Townsville on Tuesday when it's alleged Rice rammed a police car with his vehicle, trapping the officer's fingers.
The 45-year-old policeman lost the tips of his index and middle fingers, while his ring finger was crushed, police said.
"Despite the injury, the officer was able to complete his role in detaining Kasie Rice prior to receiving medical assistance," police said in a statement on Wednesday.
Rice's matter has been adjourned to July 25.
