Qld govt won't outsource debt recoup: Pitt

The Queensland government has ruled out a plan by the Liberal National Party to outsource debt collection to private contractors.

Treasurer Curtis Pitt says the previous LNP government's plan to privatise the role usually carried out by the State Penalties Enforcement Registry would not benefit Queenslanders.

He said Labor would explore other measures to address the SPER debt, which is projected to hit $1 billion this year.
