A Queensland police sting on cannabis distribution across the state has netted $2.49 million of the drug and led to charges against 47 people.

Officers executed 53 search warrants on properties from the Sunshine Coast to Gladstone, seizing 18kg in dried cannabis, 593 cannabis plants and 26 hydroponic systems that were being used to grow the drug.

Growing cannabis using hydroponic systems remain central to the state's drug scene, Detective Inspector Bruno Asnicar told reporters.

The operation began on November 24 and has led to 47 people being charged with 163 drugs and weapons offences.
