A Queensland builder allegedly operating without a licence has been slapped with a Supreme Court injunction by the state's Building and Construction Commission.
Bryan John Byrne, who operated under the business name Action Painting Contractors, had his licence cancelled in January 2013 for failing to comply with an audit.
Since that time, he has been issued with $27,000 worth of fines for flouting the state's building laws by continuing to operate.
The commission has also received complaints about defective building work and debts relating to Mr Byrne.
He has now been barred from carrying out or undertaking to carry out any further work.
Interim Commissioner Kellie Lowe says Mr Byrne could face a jail sentence if he contravenes the order.
"It was clear that another fine would not be a deterrent to this repeat offender," she said.
The commission was granted special powers to seek injunctions in December 2014, but only used them for the first time against a different builder last week.
