Probe launched after man dies in NSW police custody
A man has died in police custody in NSW, triggering a critical incident investigation.
Officers arrested the 54-year-old at midday on Sunday for an alleged aggravated break and enter in Goulburn, about 195 kilometres southwest of Sydney.
The man was taken to Goulburn Police Station where he complained of chest pains.
Paramedics were called, but he collapsed a short time later.
CPR was commenced but the man could not be revived.
An investigation into the incident will be subject to an independent review by Monaro Police District.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
