Princess Beatrice Is Planning a Surprise Trip Abroad in the Final Days of Her Pregnancy
She's due "in early spring."
Despite being on the verge of giving birth to baby number two, Princess Beatrice is headed to Switzerland for one last international trip before the end of her pregnancy. As reported by The Times, Beatrice will join a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos to speak about the use of "private capital from family offices and sovereign wealth funds...to tackle climate change." The forum will take place from January 20 to 24.
Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mozzi, announced her pregnancy back in October via a palace statement. No specific due date was revealed; instead, it simply stated that they were "expecting their second child together in early spring."
The couple currently share two children together: Sienna Elizabeth, 3, and Christopher Woolf, affectionally known as "Wolfie," who is 9. Wolfie is Mozzi's son from his previous partnership with the American architect Dara Huang.
Beatrice's travel plans came as a surprise for royal fans, who had previously been told that the princess canceled her trip to Italy in December following doctor's orders to stay home for the rest of her pregnancy. Instead, the family spent Christmas at Sandringham with the royals. Notably absent were Beatrice's father, Prince Andrew, and her mother, Sarah Ferguson, both of whom have been plagued by Andrew's seemingly unending drama regarding the Royal Lodge.
"It's a stress-hole there and for some reason, Beatrice always gets stuck in the middle of things, playing peacemaker on behalf of her dad," an insider told the Scottish Daily Express. "She doesn't want to be doing that anymore and she recognizes it's been a pattern all her life. No-one wants to be around him when he's dealing with so much right now. Beatrice is broken-hearted, of course."
