The Duke of Cambridge has revealed how he is keeping his mother Princess Diana’s memory alive for his young children.
In an interview with Sunday Night airing tonight, Prince William said he and The Duchess of Cambridge constantly talk about “Granny Diana” to Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
“We’ve got more photos up around the house now of her and we talk about her at bed time,” Prince William said.
“It’s hard because, obviously, Catherine didn’t know her, so she can not really provide that level of detail.
“I do, regularly, putting George and Charlotte to bed and talk about her and just try to remind them there are two grandmothers, there were two grandmothers in there lives.
“It’s important they know who she was and that she existed.”
Prince Harry also remembers Diana in the Sunday Night special, meeting with Sir Elton John at the London Lighthouse to hear about his mother’s work in helping AIDS patients.
Sir Elton was a friend of Diana’s and like her a committed AIDS activist.
“It was considered to be a gay disease and for someone who was in the royal family and who was a woman and who was straight, just to have someone care from the other side was an incredible gift,” Sir Elton said.
While looking at photographs of Diana with AIDS patients Prince Harry says that while the reality of AIDS at the time was “all doom and gloom” everyone in the photos is smiling.
Sir Elton said that this was because of Diana.
“Look at her face in every photograph. There’s a positive, wonderful glow.

“Also, she had this incredible ability - which he [Prince William] kind of inherited and I told him that and he said: ‘Thanks very much’ - to make people feel at ease and to make them feel that everything will be alright.
“I haven’t experienced many people that have that ability, but she could walk into a room of people and make them feel as if everything was great.”
