Brunei has an absolute monarchy, meaning it is not limited or restrained by laws or a constitution. In 2019, Brunei hit headlines after it made anal sex and adultery offences punishable by stoning to death.

The news of Prince Azim’s passing was officially announced by Brunei’s government, however they have not revealed the cause of death.

Prince Azim was the second son of the Sultan and is thought to have spent a lot of his life overseas, attending a top school in the UK before moving to the US to pursue a film producer career.
