SINGAPORE — The Primary 1 registration exercise will run online from 29 June to 31 October this year, said the Ministry of Education (MOE) on Thursday (19 May).

In a press release, MOE said parents will require Singpass and advised them to set up their 2-Step Verification (2FA) early and ensure that their Singpass account is valid before the start of the exercise.

"In selecting a primary school, parents should consider a wide stable of schools that can meet their child’s learning needs and interests, and are reasonably close to home," said MOE. Parents can look at the offerings by each school online at the SchoolFinder portal https://www.moe.gov.sg/schoolfinder.

The list of primary schools and vacancies available will be updated on the P1 registration website at https://www.moe.gov.sg/primary/p1-registration by mid-June.

Meanwhile, the dates for the different phases of registration can be found at: https://www.moe.gov.sg/primary/p1-registration/registration-phases-key-dates.

This will be the second year that the registration exercise will be conducted fully online. Parents who need help during registration can contact the school of their choice via email or telephone on the respective registration days between 9am and 4.30pm.

As announced previously, the number of Primary 1 places in Phase 2C, reserved for children with no ties to a school, will double from 20 to 40.

Meanwhile, Phase 2B, for children of parent volunteers or parents affiliated to a related church or clan, will continue to have 20 reserved places.

Phase 2A1, which prioritises parents who are alumni of the school or are members of the school advisory or management committee, and Phase 2A2, for children whose parents or siblings previously studied in the school or whose parents are staff members, will be combined into a single Phase 2A.

In addition, one-third of any remaining vacancies at the end of Phase 2A2 will be allocated to Phase 2B, and two-thirds to Phase 2C.
