Pregnant woman and partner vanish after car breaks down in NT outback

There are growing concerns for a pregnant woman and her partner who vanished in the Northern Territory outback after their car broke down.

Bianca Farnsworth, 25, and Cody Rowland, 29, have not been seen since they abandoned their old Mitsubishi Urvan (NT registration CC91RT) on the Stuart Highway just before 3pm Friday.

Northern Territory Police understand the Victorian couple and their pet Rottweiler were attempting to hitchhike the remaining 200km to Alice Springs.

“Both are believed to be in good health however Bianca is several months pregnant with her first child,” A NT police spokesperson said in a statement.

“It is unclear what supplies or finances they have available.”

Ms Farnsworth was employed as a pharmacy assistant for a chemist in Watergardens before she stopped showing up for work, News Corp reports.

“All of a sudden she stopped showing up for shifts, we tried several times to contact her, but there was nothing,” Ms Farnsworth’s former colleague told the publication.
