'Pregnant' woman found dead in car boot in backyard identified

A woman believed to be pregnant found dead in the boot of a car at an Ipswich property has been identified as Kardell Lomas.

Ms Lomas' body was found in the boot of a Holden Commodore in the backyard of the property on McGill Street, Raceview, on Tuesday afternoon after police were called following a phone call from a concerned neighbour.

Her 36-year-old boyfriend has been arrested and is talking with police.

Detective Acting Inspector Heath McQueen said Ms Lomas' partner attended the crime scene on Tuesday night and handed himself in to police.

"We have an autopsy being conducted today in relation to a possible cause of death," Detective Acting Inspector McQueen told media on Wednesday.

"We do believe there are members of the community who have spoken to the person or persons that are involved in this offence, and I implore to come forward please."

Detective Acting Inspector McQueen said the pair were living together at the Raceview property and they were both known to police prior to this incident.

Police were not able to confirm media reports Ms Lomas, 31, was heavily pregnant and soon to give birth.

Tributes have been flowing on social media for Ms Lomas.

"RIP MY BABY COUSIN KARDELL LOMAS U WIL B SADLY MISSED ALWAYZ IN MY HEART & NEVA 4GOTTEN....," cousin Toni Whitfield posted on Facebook.

"Think of the buddas Adair Lomas and the extended family in this sad time, can't even imagine the heartache of this sad news," wrote a friend.

Another posted: "Sending my condolences out to the Lomas family thinking of you all at this sad time".
