Pranksters' bizarre hack to survive extreme heatwave
A group of pranksters appear to have given car pooling a whole new meaning after they were spotted at a drive-through bottle shop trying their best to keep cool during this week’s intense heatwave.
The men, who are understood to be prominent social media personalities Danny Philippou and Jackson O’Doherty, were caught on camera making their way through Adelaide’s Lonsdale Hotel in a car filled with water.
With the water sitting at neck level for the driver and passengers, the pranksters showed off their remarkable feat by parading out of the car’s sunroof sporting snorkelling gear.

And while the group brought a smile to the faces of punters in the city’s southwest, there was little cheer for the rest of the state as the relenting heatwave continued.
The heat has taken a toll, with 16 people rushed to hospital suffering heat-related illnesses in the past 24 hours.
Temperatures across South Australia are running 10 to 12 degrees Celsius above average, fuelled by a pool of hot air that has been circulating over inland Australia since November.
On Tuesday, Port Augusta posted a top temperature of 48.9, the highest recorded in the mid-north town.

In Tarcoola, further north, the mercury hit 49C, also beating the town’s previous record of 48.9C.
Police also confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old alleged arsonist who is accused of starting three fires in Adelaide’s southern suburbs during the scorching heatwave.
