Powerball: Mum's 'weird feeling' before $40 million lotto win

A Brisbane mum has admitted she had a “weird feeling” she was going to win the $40 million Powerball.

“You wouldn’t believe it, but this morning I woke up with a weird feeling that I was going to win Powerball,” she told The Lott on Thursday night.

“I made sure I kept my phone on charge and that I would be ready to answer your phone call.”

The woman was called immediately after the lottery draw on Thursday night and she broke down into tears after being informed of her win.

“My heart is about to beat through my chest,” she said.

“You have no idea what this means to me.”

The mum said the win was a relief.

“It’s been such a tough time,” she admitted.

When asked how she is going to spend her winnings, the woman said she was going to buy a house, and share it with her family and some of her friends who have helped her out.

She also has plans to retire and travel around Australia instead of working.

The woman purchased her PowerHit entry online from Australia’s official lotteries The Lott.

The $40 million win makes her Queensland’s 10th Powerball winner so far this year.

The prize was boosted to $40 million after three consecutive weeks of no Powerball wins.

The winning numbers needed to win Draw 1274 were 27, 7, 31, 32, 2, 9, and 15, with Powerball number 7.
