The winning numbers for Powerball’s $80 million jackpot have been revealed.
The balls were drawn just before 8.30pm on Thursday night, as Aussies around the country vied for their chance at the life-changing pile of cash.
The winning numbers for Draw No. 1208’s division one jackpot were 21, 27, 8, 6, 28, 34, and 7.
The all important Powerball number was 16.
Powerball to jackpot to $110 million
Nine lucky Australians will soon be $91,728.90 richer when they cash in on their division 2 winning tickets, totalling $825,560.10.
There were no division 1 winners however, which means next week’s Powerball draw will jackpot to a national record of $110 million.
Tonight’s draw was only the third time the top Powerball prize has jackpotted to $80 million after the lucky combination of winning numbers eluded players for the past seven weeks.
While it was one of the biggest draws in recent memory, it wasn’t quite at the dizzying heights of a whopping $107.57 million Powerball windfall that a lucky Sydney woman took home earlier this year.
But next Thursday's draw will even top that, to become the highest division one prize ever offered by a national lottery game.
The previous record for the highest advertised Australian lottery jackpot was $100 million, which has only been offered three times before – once by Oz Lotto in 2012, and by Powerball in August last year, and January this year, according to The Lott.
The $110 million Powerball draw 1209 will take place on Thursday July 18.
