Powerball $20m jackpot claimed by Sydney man

A young Sydney man has gone from rags to riches overnight after he discovered he had scooped Thursday’s $20 million Powerball prize.

The man from Liverpool, in Sydney’s southwest, held the division one entry for the Powerball draw 1263.

He has won the entire division one prize, going from “having little, to being insanely rich”.

He told The Lott the win had been completely life-changing.

“Last night I jumped into bed to go to sleep, but quickly checked my online account to see if I’d won anything,” he explained.

“That’s when I saw I’d won $20 million! I couldn’t believe it. I kept logging in and out of my online account.

“I even checked your website and tried searching for any news of a winner online.

“My heart was racing. I was shaking!”

The first thing the man did after discovering the big win was call his mum to get her to double check his ticket.

“She was in hysterics! But honestly once I started to believe it, I felt incredibly calm,” he said.

“I couldn’t sleep last night. I just kept thinking about the fact I am now a multi-millionaire. A multi-millionaire! How crazy is that?

“This changes everything for me and for my whole family.”

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1263 were 24, 3, 30, 19, 27, 9 and 35, while the Powerball number was 1.
