Porn star 'takes own life' after breast cancer diagnosis

A porn star has died after it was believed she took her own life following a cancer diagnosis.

Dahlia Sky, 31, who has worked in the industry for 10 years, was found dead in her car on June 30 in San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.

LAPD detective Dave Peteque told Adult Video News (AVN) her death was being treated as a "potential suicide" and there is no evidence of foul play.

In March 2020, Sky announced on Instagram she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

"I may be young but this is a very real illness that I did not believe would happen to me," she wrote.

"I am coping with it the best that I can."

She added she was doing her best to stay positive and sober but had been "struggling with the ups and downs of returning to work and pushing treatment to the back-burner".

Sky revealed that her mental health had suffered as a result of the diagnosis and her father being in and out of hospital after suffering two major heart attacks.

"This has taken a massive mental and physical toll on me and my family," she added.

Dahlia Sky's death 'extremely heartbreaking'

Hans, the mononymous owner of JHP Films – which co-produced the 2020 showcase Always Dahlia Sky – told AVN she had been living with cancer for several years.

"During her last year I spoke to her several times about life. It was not an easy ride for her," he said.

"This will take a long time to get over, if it's even possible. Dahlia Sky, you beautiful soul, you funny, complicated and warm-hearted friend! I am going to miss you so much."

After struggling through a challenging 2020 and 2021, Yahoo Australia is telling the truth about mental health with real stories from the people who have lived it.

Porn director Axel Braun also paid tribute to the star after working with her a number of times.

"Dahlia's passing is extremely heartbreaking. She was a really sweet girl," he told AVN.

"I shot her dozens of times and not only did she always bring her A game as a performer, but she was also a very talented actress and a real trooper.

"She endured some of the most gruelling 22-plus hour days on set for my Terminator and Star Trek parodies, and never once complained or stopped smiling."

Braun added she was "super funny and had a big heart".

"Unfortunately her battle with breast cancer took a toll on her mental health and she struggled with depression, as most people would," he said.

"My heart goes out to her family and loved ones, we lost a beautiful soul."
