Popular Snack Brand Issues Nationwide Recall on Multiple Varieties of Granola—Here's What You Need to Know

Ontario, Canada-based company Riverside Natural Foods Inc. is in the hot seat this month, resulting in a voluntary recall of certain batches of MadeGood granola bars. The FDA officially published the recall notice on December 10, and all parties involved have since been working diligently to eradicate the potential presence of metal in a number of granola products. It is important to note that no injuries have been reported thus far, meaning the recall is being initiated solely as a precautionary measure.

While a full list of affected MadeGood products can be found here, the recall names a wide variety of flavors including, but not limited to 6-, 12-, 40- and 63-count packages. These recalled products are said to have been produced between January and November 2024, and distributed throughout Canada, the United States and a number of international markets. Consumers are encouraged to look for product UPC’s and best by dates included in the recall, of which can be found on the MadeGood website here.

Riverside’s extensive investigation has led to the exact identification of the source of the issue, citing a weak link in the manufacturing process. The company has since remedied the issue and tested new processes to ensure any future risk can be fully mitigated. The company urges consumers who have purchased the products in question to check them against the provided list and return any recalled products to the store in which they were purchased for a full refund.
