A popular brand of milk has been recalled after testing revealed the product might contain traces of mould.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand announced on Monday that the one litre cartons of almond milk by the brand Milk Lab were being recalled.
Consumers who purchased the product with a best before date of August 6, 2021 in South Australia have been warned to monitor their health.
The Rio Coffee Pty Ltd milk was available for sale at select supermarkets, cafes and restaurants in South Australia, Food Standards said.
The milk was recalled due to potential microbial contamination, which can cause illness if consumed.
“Anyone who has consumed this product and is concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” Food Standards said in its announcement.
“If you have purchased this product you should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
The government body reassured many concerned consumers who expressed their distress over the product in comments to the Food Standards Facebook post.
“Any more information? We use this and purchase from Foodland! Luckily ours has a different use by date BUT now this has put me off having it at all,” one person wrote.
Food Standards assured social media users it was only products sold in South Australia with the specific best before date that were being recalled.
Consumers seeking further information were urged to contact Rio Coffee Pty Ltd directly.
