England’s second national coronavirus lockdown is set to begin on Thursday.
MPs will vote on the measures in the House of Commons on Wednesday after Boris Johnson insisted the lockdown will only last a month.
It will see pubs, restaurants, gyms and non-essential shops close until 2 December.
On Monday, the prime minister told MPs the restrictions would expire on that date “without a shred of doubt”.
His statement echoed comments by chancellor Rishi Sunak earlier on Monday that the lockdown rules will expire on 2 December as a “matter of law”.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer accused the prime minister of a “catastrophic failure of leadership”.
