Police want to speak to man after brazen theft of diamond ring

Police have released images of a man they would like to speak to after a brazen thief ran out of a jewellery shop with a solitaire diamond ring in Melbourne.

The man parked his late model white Holden Astra hatchback with the hazard lights flashing on Toorak Road at Camberwell about 2.20pm on May 10, police said on Thursday.

Once inside the shop, he asked about the ring on display in the window and when he was given it to look at, he ran off, got back into his car and drove towards the city.
