Police officers suspended after 'evil' arrest video shared on TikTok

Three police officers have been suspended after a video shared on TikTok showed them brutally beating a man during an arrest.

The horrifying video showed the three cops holding a man down in a car park in the US state of Arkansas while one repeatedly punched him and another kneed and kicked him.

At one point, one of the police officers appears to pick up the man's head before pounding it into the pavement.

Arkansas news station KFSM-TV reports the man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly made terroristic threats to an employee at a convenience store.

He also allegedly threatened to "cut off their face" and spat on the worker.

Those filming the video were shocked by what they were capturing and could be heard saying "this is bad" and "we gotta get out of here".

The man does not appear to fight back and he is wriggling under the force of the police officers while his shoes are tossed on the pavement.

Two of the cops were Crawford County Deputies, with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office writing on Facebook a request had been made to Arkansas State Police to investigate the incident.

"The Deputies have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. I hold all my employees accountable for their actions and will take appropriate measures in this matter," the sheriff's office wrote.

The third policeman was identified as an officer from the Mulberry Police Department. The department said in a statement he had also been put on administrative leave.

"We will take the appropriate actions at the conclusion of the investigation," the statement said.

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson confirmed the local arrest would be investigated by the Arkansas State Police.

People on social media were shocked by the video, with CNN White House correspondent John Harwood tweeting the actions in the video were "evil".

"Disgusting," another wrote.

"Man, that’s hard to watch," somebody else commented.

"I'm sick to my stomach watching this," a third added.

The video has since been removed from TikTok.
