Another man could have been involved in the alleged kidnapping of a 12-year-old boy for ransom with police appealing for information from the Chinese community.
Detective Inspector Marc Hogan and Chinese Police Constable Pepsi Li will make a public appeal on Tuesday afternoon for information on a second person in relation to the abduction of the boy last Friday from the Gold Coast.
Zhen Jie Zhang, 53, was extradited to Queensland from NSW after appearing in the Grafton Local Court on Monday over the incident.
Zhang was interviewed by Queensland police on Monday night and charged with two counts of extortion and one count each of torture, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and kidnapping for ransom.
He will appear in a Gold Coast court on Tuesday.
It's alleged the 12-year-old was dragged into a car outside his Gold Coast home.
He was found by police in Grafton, more than 200km south of the Gold Coast, less than 24 hours later.
Police claim the alleged kidnapper had fallen out with the boy's family over "substantial" personal loans.
