Queensland Police are searching for a “runaway bride” after a wedding dress was found near a playground.
A good Samaritan found the “beautifully crafted wedding dress” wrapped in a storage bag and left near a playground last Thursday, and handed it in to the Cairns police station.
Police are hoping to reunite the gown with its owner.
“We don’t know what sequins of events led to the dress being discovered,” the police said in an online appeal to find the bride.
“Did the bride get cold feet at the last minute and leave the dress behind? Was it stolen from somewhere and discarded?”
Tweeting a picture of the gown, police said: “We’re on the lookout for a runaway bride in Cairns – someone seems to have lost their wedding/formal dress! Can you help?”
The dress is made from blue satin with pastel flowers, multi-coloured tulle and has a blue satin train.
The find comes after a Brisbane bride was reunited with her lost gown that was handed in to police after it flung from the back of the woman’s car to the roadside at Chelmer.
Anyone who has heard of someone who has lost a wedding dress in the past week is urged to call the Cairns Police Property Office on (07) 4030 7207 from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.30pm.
