Police officer run down at Adelaide RBT

A police officer has been hit by a car after the driver failed to stop for a random breath test in Adelaide.

The man was directed to stop on Old Port Road on Monday night but instead hit the female officer as he sped off.

He was pursued by patrols and arrested when he crashed into a tree.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with endangering life, driving dangerously to evade police and driving while disqualified and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police say the officer hit was not seriously hurt and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
