Police make surprising find in Aussie driver’s soiled pants

A driver in Sydney has found himself on “Santa’s naughty list” after smashing into a parked car in Newtown while more than five times the legal limit.

Police say the 56-year-old man behind the wheel of a black Renault Megane was heading east on Alice Street recently when he veered left from his lane and collided with the rear of an occupied stationary vehicle. The crash caused substantial damage to his car with the left front end caved in and headlights shattered.

But it wasn’t until officers got there that they made a startling discovery.

“The driver was removed from the vehicle where he was found to be concealing a bottle of gin in his soiled pants,” the NSW Police Force’s Traffic and Highway Patrol Command wrote on Facebook. “He could not recall how much he had been drinking, nor much of the events from the day including why he was driving.”

As well as the bottle of Darley’s gin, an opened carton of Storm Brewing Co beer was found on the front passenger seat. Both drinks are sold at Aldi.

After testing positive to a roadside breath test, the man was brought back to Newtown Police Station for a breath test where he returned a reading of 0.251.

“His licence has been suspended pending the outcome of the court result,” police added, with the 56-year-old to face court early next year “to learn his fate of his terrible decision making”.

Facebook users plead with cops to publicly shame soiled driver

The post on Facebook has since gone viral with many users calling on the cops to reveal the driver’s “soiled” mess.

“Photos please,” one person wrote. “Public shaming [would be the] best deterrent for others.”

“[You] had a big day if your pants are soiled,” another said. “Soiled his pants.. Love it,” someone else added. “Throw the book at him.”

While others berated the driver for drinking “Aldi’s finest beer and gin,” referring to him as a “gentleman of great taste and class.”

“Look at this guy on the Aldi turps, no wonder he blew so high,” someone else added. “So drunk he probably thought the parked car hit his car,” said another.
