Man’s creepy gesture before ‘sexually assaulting’ woman walking dog

While walking her dog along a bush trail in broad daylight, a woman says she was sexually assaulted by a man who offered her a flower moments beforehand.

The 56-year-old woman was walking her dog along Dorset Recreation Trail in Croydon, in Melbourne’s east, on August 22, when she said a man approached her without invitation about 10.30am.

The offender then proceeded to allegedly sexually assault her, before making a swift escape.

A digital representation of the man, who was thought to be aged between 50 and 60 years old, was released by police on Monday as the Knox Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team work to identify him.

He was perceived to be Indian or Sri Lankan in appearance and about 170cm tall with a slim build.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a grey beanie, dark coloured coat and dark coloured pants.

Investigators hope someone might recognise the man depicted in the digital representation.
