Police focus on white van as travel blogger charged over deadly shed fire
The police investigation into the alleged murder of a father and his young daughter in a shed fire in southeast Queensland has zeroed in on a white van that was seen in the area.
The bodies of Todd Mooney, 54, and Kirra, 10, were discovered in the burnt out building on their Biggenden property on the afternoon of December 20. Their deaths came just days before Mr Mooney, who owned the local bakery, was due to wed Kirra’s mum Bec Hansen at the Fenwicks Road house.
A 24-year-old travel blogger and OnlyFans creator has since been charged with their murders and one count of arson. Kristen Olsen will face court on Monday, as reported by Nine News.
Officers are yet to establish any motive behind the attack and don’t believe Ms Olsen, who lives an hour north of Biggenden in Maryborough, knew the dad and daughter before they died.
Appeal for information into sightings of ‘distinctive’ white van
Police investigating the case have since released an image of a white Holden Barina wagon in an appeal for information. They say the vehicle had a very distinctive solar panel on its roof.
It was later discovered burnt out in Maryborough, alongside a trailer and caravan, according to Nine News. Police believe it was set alight on the same day as the Biggenden blaze.
Anyone who may have seen the vehicle on the day of the fire, between 10am and 2pm, around the Biggenden to Bam Bam Springs area, is urged to come forward.
Those with information about the van, or anything else to do with the fire, can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Posts on social media reveal accused ‘cleansing’ her soul
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Pettiford confirmed on Friday that Ms Olsen is so far their only person of interest in the homicide case.
While he said that she didn’t have any known links to the Mooney family, she did go to school in Biggeden. On Instagram the 24-year-old shared a photo of herself in a river in one of her last posts before she was arrested.
“Quick dips in the streams to refresh my barefoot and cleanse both myself and my soul,” she wrote on November 30. “Finding swings, cans to collect and rocks that looked like kind cushioning for my head. Spending at least 30 minutes within the waters grasp to wash it all away..”
