A woman and two teenage boys have been arrested after a stolen four-wheel drive crashed into a police car during a three-suburb chase in Melbourne's west.

Officers repeatedly tried to intercept the Nissan Navara after spotting it with stolen plates heading north on Derrimut Road near Heaths Road at Hoppers Crossing just before 11am on Tuesday.

A young boy was allegedly behind the wheel when officers first attempted to stop the vehicle but when they re-started the pursuit on Tarneit Road, he'd handed over to a woman.

The 4WD crashed into a highway patrol car shortly after at Laverton North before again speeding off and being intercepted nearby about 11.30am.

A woman in her 30s and two teenage boys, all from Hoppers Crossing, were arrested at the scene.
