A 25-year-old Indiana woman was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend while she filmed a TikTok video inside an apartment, police allege.

New Albany police arrested Joshua Thompson, 25, in connection with the death of Kaitlynn Lee, 25, who was shot in the head, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

According to the affidavit, police responded to a report of a woman who'd been shot at around 5 a.m. in a home. The woman, Lee, was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

A witness claimed that she and Lee had been making TikTok videos in the kitchen of an apartment when they heard banging on the window, according to the affidavit. The witness claimed she heard Lee ask the person at the window — later allegedly identified by police as Thompson — “What are you doing here?” before Thompson fired two to three shots at the woman, according to the affidavit.

Investigators said they reviewed the video the two women made, which showed them “laughing, dancing and lip-synching” to a song before the violence transpired, the affidavit states. In the video, police noted that Lee’s body fell out of the frame of the camera and smoke was “hanging in the room” before the video was shut off.

The witness allegedly told police that Lee and Thompson had “a toxic relationship” and were  “always at odds” with each other, the affidavit states. She also claimed that Lee once told her that if she was ever found dead it would be “Joshua [that] killed her."

Floyd County Prosecutor Chris Lane told WHAS11, “We take domestic violence allegations seriously. And we’re taking them seriously in this case.” He added, “Unfortunately this is not unusual for these allegations and circumstances, relationships can lead to tragic results and unfortunately the allegations are that’s what happened."

Thompson’s brother told investigators that the 25-year-old called him "crying and distraught" and sought advice from him, according to the affidavit.

Thompson then allegedly called police and told them that he "shot the mother of his child," according to the affidavit.

Investigators claimed that in their interview with Thompson, the suspect said he knocked on the window of the apartment with a handgun, despite there being a no contact order filed against him by Lee, and "admitted to pulling the trigger of the gun.” He allegedly told officers that he had been checking to see if there were any other men in the apartment.

The affidavit alleges the handgun was recovered outside the window along with a single shell casing.

Thompson is currently being held without bond at the Floyd County Jail, according to WAVE.

He is facing additional charges including invasion of privacy, criminal recklessness and unlawful carrying of a handgun, per the outlet.

It's not immediately clear if he has entered pleas to the charges or retained an attorney.
