Lucky punter scores $3.6 million at Perth casino from $15 poker buy-in

A Perth man has turned a $15 poker punt into a $3.6 million win to claim Australia’s largest ever casino table jackpot.

The lucky player became an instant millionaire when he pulled off a royal flush with just a $15 buy-in at Crown Perth casino on Saturday night.

The winner, who wished to remain anonymous, has broken the casino’s previous Texas Hold’em Poker benchmark by almost one million dollars.

The previous Crown Perth record was set in September 2016 when $2.7 million was won, also thanks to a royal flush.

Crown Perth chief operating officer Lonnie Bossi said celebrations hadn’t stopped for the winner.

“To have a record breaking $3.6 million won at Crown Perth is quite extraordinary,” he told the West Australian.

“This is Australia’s biggest ever jackpot won on the tables and I am so excited to see that go off here.”

What is a royal flush?

In poker, a flush is a hand that contains five cards all of the same suit.

A royal flush, however, is the highest possible value flush of sequential rank.

The highest value straight flush includes ace, king, queen, jack, and 10 all in the same suit.
