The prime minister has one eye on the long-running drought as Australia grapples with a bushfire emergency.

Scott Morrison said the national drought recovery agency continued to funnel support to affected communities while the fire crisis dragged on.

"These fires are burning and we're dealing with those fires but the drought I know continues to ravage," Mr Morrison told 2GB radio on Friday.

"While we've got these current disasters, I have not forgotten the drought for a second, and all those affected."
