John Fetterman is set to meet with Donald Trump in Mar-a-Lago, making him the first sitting Democrat senator to meet with the president-elect since the November polls.

Trump invited Fetterman to meet at his Florida estate, according to CBS News. Politico reported that the meeting is set to take place this weekend.

“I’m the senator for all Pennsylvanians — not just Democrats in Pennsylvania,” Fetterman said in a statement confirming the plans.

Trump won the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania in 2024, even after Fetterman blasted him on CNN for casting doubt on the state’s election integrity.

“It‘s the same s--t he played in ’20, and it didn’t go anywhere,” Fetterman said in a November 2024 interview on State of the Union. “It’s the same, sad story that he had in ’20, and I would like to remind everybody that [Joe] Biden wrecked his sh-t by 80,000 votes.”

In the 2022 elections that Fetterman later won, Trump baselessly accused the then-candidate of using drugs.

“Fetterman supports taxpayer-funded drug dens and the complete decriminalization of illegal drugs, including heroin, cocaine, crystal meth, and ultra lethal fentanyl,” Trump said in a Pennsylvania rally. “By the way, he [Fetterman] takes them himself.”

Their relationship seems to be on the mend, however. “I’ve been clear that no one is my gatekeeper,” Fetterman said. “I will meet with and have a conversation with anyone if it helps me deliver for Pennsylvania and the nation.”

The meeting comes as the senator parted ways with his communications director Carrie Adams, who had been with him since April last year, according to Politico.

A former Fetterman campaign staffer called the meeting with Trump a “pick-me” move: “I obviously hate it but it’s also kind of hilarious and epic.”
