Police release pictures of man wanted over random stabbing of Sydney woman

Police have released photos of a man they wish to speak to after a woman was stabbed in the ribs in Sydney’s inner-west.

The woman, 38, was with friends on Bedford Street, Newtown, on September 6 about 6pm when a man she didn’t know approached her.

The man began to argue with the woman before he allegedly assaulted her “several times” and stabbed her in the ribs.

The 38-year-old took herself to nearby Newtown Police Station before she was transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment.

She has since been released.

Police have released images of a man they believe might be able to assist with their enquiries.

He has been described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 175cm tall, of an athletic build and aged in his early 20s.
