Chilling photo of woman in hospital with baby she 'cut from teen's womb'
A photo of a woman with the baby she is accused of cutting from a teenager’s womb, after murdering her has surfaced.
The chilling photo, originally posted by CBS 2, shows Clarisa Figueroa standing over a critically ill baby Yavani Yadiel Lopez at Advocate Christ Hospital in Chicago.
Ms Figuera has since been charged with first degree murder for allegedly luring 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez to her home, where police say she strangled her and removed her unborn baby from the womb.
It was reported that Ms Figuera, 46, rushed the infant to hospital on April 23, claiming she had just given birth to the baby boy.
It’s alleged that Ms Figuera contacted Ms Ochoa-Lopez on social media after devising an elaborate plan to acquire a newborn baby and used a Facebook group to offer to donate baby goods to needy mothers.
When the pregnant woman arrived to collect the offered goods, Ms Figuera and her daughter, Desiree Figueroa, allegedly strangled Ms Ochoa-Lopez and cut the infant boy from her womb.
Ms Figuera also set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the ill baby boy.
Three weeks later Ms Figuera was charged with the murder of Ms Ochoa-Lopez after her remains were discovered in a garbage can near Ms Figuera’s Chicago property. Her daughter Desiree Figueroa was also charged with first-degree murder.
The newborn was placed on life support and he remains in a serious condition.
The hospital is being investigated after failing to raise the alarm when they discovered that Ms Figuera had lied about being the baby’s mother.
Ms Figuera’s boyfriend, Pioter Bobak has also been charged with attempting to conceal the alleged murder.
