Loyal dog refuses to move from outside ambulance after elderly owner's fall

A loyal pet has shown exactly why dogs are often referred to as a man’s best friend after he refused to move from the rear of an ambulance when his owner had taken a fall.

Jack the terrier was photographed by police in Portalington, Ireland, waiting outside the rear of the emergency vehicle after his owner Paddy fell into a ditch.

Police said they were able to find the elderly man as Jack refused to leave his owner’s side.

Local police later shared the heartwarming image to Facebook.

“Even when ambulance arrived Jack wouldn’t rest unless he could see him!” they explained.

Thousands took to the post to reveal their love for Jack’s devotion.

“Dogs are just amazing. So loyal, so loving,” one person commented.

“The unconditional love and friendship of a dog is something to behold,” another said.

Paddy’s wife Melanie took to Facebook to say her husband was on the road to recovery and she has given “treasure” Jack and Paddy a new nickname.

“The dynamic duo,” she revealed.

Last year, another post on a dog went viral when pictures emerged of it waiting patiently on a beach for its surfing owner in New Zealand.
