'Do her pets wear pants too?' Mum slammed for complaining about Kmart's 'rude' toy

A Melbourne mother who went viral after expressing outrage at plastic genitalia on a child’s toy has been torn down on social media for her “helicopter parenting”.

After stopping off at her local Kmart in Melton to pick up a few toys before a trip to the zoo, Tanya Husnu, couldn’t help but notice something a little different about the $5 lion that her son Hakan had chosen.

The professional blogger said she was shocked and confused when her kids pointed out the small penis on the toy.

“I thought it was really inappropriate. In this day and age, it’s not acceptable to have things like that on children’s toys,” the mother-of-five said.

“It’s so stupid and just plain weird… you might find something like that in a specialty store on a hen’s night or something.

“I was really shocked. I mean it’s funny as well and you can’t help but laugh but it’s still just not appropriate for a child’s toy that is on full display in the kids’ section.

Ms Husnu said it was “shocking” to see and added that although her kids understand the basic differences between the male and female anatomy, such a “graphic” depiction should not be allowed on toys aimed at children as young as three.

“I don’t know what they were thinking. It’s not on any of the others, so it just doesn’t make sense why it’s just on the lion, it’s bizarre.

And while she has urged the retailer to remove the “graphic” toy from its shelves, social media users have accused her being overly sensitive.

I hope all the animals at the zoo were appropriately covered to protect delicate eyes and minds from reality,” one person replied.

“They’re kids. Stop being a snow flower, boys have willys. Big whoop.”

“Does she not have pets? Do the pets wear pants? Animals have genitals, it’s not inappropriate at all,” another wrote.
