Woman spotted eating cereal behind the wheel fined

A Perth driver has been fined after she was caught eating her breakfast behind the wheel of her car last week.

The 19-year-old P-plater has been handed a $300 fine and three demerit points for driving without care and attention after she was photographed holding a bowl of cereal in one hand and a spoon in the other on Marmion Avenue in Connolly.

The image had made its way to Western Australia's Police Commissioner, Chris Dawson, who labelled the offence as "ridiculously dangerous."

"The report I got was that the driver, who had their passenger take a photo of this, noticed because the car was weaving across the lane," he said.

"We've got that registration. They can expect a knock at the door."

A witness from the scene said that the young driver had been using her knees to steer to the car.
