Perth mum furious as 'middle class white' woman avoids jail for pub glassing

A Perth mum is furious with the sentencing of a woman who glassed her in a pub.

Kate Jessop was attacked at The Duke Bar and Bistro in Carramar in the city’s north in June while celebrating her 40th birthday, Nine News reports.

Her female attacker left her with a 4cm-deep cut to her shoulder.

On Wednesday, the woman who attacked her was handed a 12-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to unlawful wounding.

The 40-year-old said her attacker has walked away “scot-free”.

"It makes me really angry, it's sort of putting it out there you can behave however you want and destroy other people's lives and if you're middle class and white, you can get away with it," she told Nine News.

Ms Jessop claims the attack has left her with ongoing nerve pain affecting her work with horses.

She wants the courts to send a stronger message.

“Everyone has to be responsible for their own behaviour,” she said.
