Family's anxious wait after girl, 2, 'puts condom found at McDonald's in mouth'
A Perth mum was left horrified after she claimed her toddler found what is believed to be a used condom in the restaurant’s main dining area.
The woman, who is only identified as Wendy, said she visited McDonald’s at Warnbro, in Perth’s south, on Friday about 6pm.
"I went back up to the counter to order something and my daughter was with my husband, I don't know how it happened but when my husband next looks at her, she's sucking on a black condom," Wendy told 10 Daily.
"I ran into the bathrooms, washed her mouth and hands and came out and gave her a drink.”
The parents were disgusted by the find which was unwrapped.
It is unclear if it had been used but the mum told 10 Daily they were getting the two-year-old tested for STIs.
The mum told Nine News she requested for the condom to be given to a hospital for analysis.
She also told the TV network the family had an anxious three-month wait for testing on their daughter.
The girl’s parents are considering legal action.
In a statement to Yahoo News Australia a McDonald’s spokesperson said they were “very sorry that the incident occurred and take situations like this seriously”.
“We are conducting an investigation into how this happened,” the spokesperson said.
“Cleanliness and safety are our top priorities and we ensure the Shift Manager on duty conducts what we refer to as a travel path every 30 minutes. The travel path sees the Shift Manager walk through and check all areas of the restaurant.”
The spokesperson confirmed the condom was provided to a hospital for testing.
