People Are Growing Tired Of The Democratic Party After TikTok Released A Statement Thanking Donald Trump For Potentially Working With Them On Reinstating The App

Sigh. TikTok is now inaccessible to US users due to its ban, which officially went into effect last night.

It was expected. Many users readied themselves this past week after the Supreme Court upheld a law forcing TikTok to divest its Chinese ownership and find an American buyer.

However, what was perhaps not expected was the message users faced when attempting to open the app. The pop-up apologizes before announcing, "We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned!"

The message shows a 180 on the incoming president's stance, considering Donald Trump introduced an executive order that would ban TikTok in the US way back in 2020.

Since then, the Senate passed the bill forcing ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, to sell or risk being banned, and in 2024, President Joe Biden followed up by signing this into law.

Given the timeline, some people now question the intent behind Trump's current promise to issue an executive order extending TikTok's search period to find a US buyer "to have a 50% ownership position in a joint venture."

Many believe Trump's shift will have "meaningful political ramifications" for democratic leaders who held the reins during TikTok's ban. As one user wrote, "over a hundred fifty million americans saw this [message] and all democrats had to do to avoid this was not be inept losers on one single vote."

"Anybody acting like TikTok going offline isn't a political disaster for Democrats is deeply unserious. Most political issues never touch people's daily lives—but 170 million Americans just had their favorite social media platform taken away from them. And Trump is going to position himself as the savior," another added.

Others think Trump may take credit for potentially bringing TikTok back online and thus sway voters toward the GOP as some shifted after Trump signed US voters' stimulus checks.

"trump getting all of the praise and glory, despite his cabinet introducing the bill in the first place," one person quipped.

TikTok's message to users is ultimately being called "a Trump ad."

"tiktok having a banner pop up for all US users pretty much saying 'tiktok is banned now sorry but trump will fix it stay tuned 🥹🥹' is soooo weird and terrifying like this really is just a whole scheme to get trumped to be liked by kids."

Overall, people appear to believe the successful ban of TikTok and subsequent flip-flopping "is the start of something extremely terrifying..."
