J.D. Vance Called Out Moderators For Fact-Checking Him During Last Night's VP Debate, And The Moment Is Going Viral

Last night, Sen. J.D. Vance and Gov. Tim Walz went head-to-head in the first vice presidential debate of the 2024 election.

CBS hosted the event, and before it started, moderators Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan clarified they would "provide the candidates with the opportunity to fact-check claims made by each other." However, a standout moment came when J.D. Vance made a false assertion about migrants in Springfield, Ohio.

When asked about immigration, Vance said: “In Springfield, Ohio, and in communities all across this country you’ve got schools that are overwhelmed, you’ve got hospitals that are overwhelmed, you’ve got housing that is totally unaffordable because we’ve brought in millions of illegal immigrants to compete with Americans for scarce homes.”

However, moderators quickly pointed out that a large population of those "illegal immigrants" in Springfield that Vance is referring to, are actually Haitian migrants who are in the US legally through temporary protective status.

To which Vance rebuts: "The rules were you guys weren't going to fact check."

It's quite the back-and-forth, and many online couldn't help but drop their jaws upon hearing a VP hopeful seemingly complain about being called out on an untruth. Here's what people are saying:
