NSW man killed in crash in Adelaide

A NSW man is dead after being struck by a taxi while he was walking along a dark road just near Adelaide airport.

The 45-year-old man was struck on Tapleys Hill Road about 9.45pm on Wednesday and died at the scene.

Police initially said the driver of the car didn't stop, but have since said the driver remained at the scene.

Media reports said a taxi driver crashed into a signpost metres from the accident and was being questioned by police.

The crash happened on a short stretch of road where there are no streetlights or nearby businesses, the Adelaide Advertiser reports.

Major crash investigators are attending.
