The PFF team discusses the New England Patriots selection of Baylor WR Tyquan Thornton in the 2nd Round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

- So everyone made fun of the Patriots for, you know, didn't have a wide receiver that ran sub 4.6. That was two years ago, obviously had Nelson Agholor. They have a sub 4.6 receiver now. And they have a sub 4.3 receiver now in Tyquan Thornton who went 4.28 at the Combine, 10'11" broad jump. He is linearly insane.

I mean, this guy can fly, but turns like a Mack truck. He had 7.25 three-cone, which is abysmal for a wide receiver, especially a fast wide receiver.

- What percentile is that?

- That is low and he is skinny. I mean this is a lot like the Anthony Schwartz pick last year, but a whole round higher, where you're just drafting the guy because he can fly. Can he play wide receiver? Oh my gosh, not especially. But do you want a speed element? Here's a speed element.

- This was old, they got Chad Jackson back in the day, like, you know, historically--

- But that was a first rounder.

- --Bill Belichick's been there forever.

- Yeah.

- They've made a few of these speed plays. But they do not have the best history of any non-seventh round receiver that is a former quarterback actually turning out to be good.

- He has 8 and a fourth inch hands.

- Yeah.

- It's second percentile.

- What?

- He's fast and he attacks the ball. To me that's like get that in round 3 or 4 and hope something comes of it.

- OK, all right. Well--

- They're getting it here.

- Interesting. Interesting.

- They couldn't separate last year. That was the issue with both the tight end and the receiver.

- You know, you are correct.

- They could not separate and they're going to try and get a guy who can separate and in this case vertically down the field.
