A drink driver allegedly six times over the blood alcohol limit has been foiled by passers-by who took his keys after he crashed into a parked car in northern Tasmania.
Police say the 39-year-old man blew 0.325 per cent on a breath analysis test after the crash in suburban Launceston on Sunday afternoon.
People at the scene took his car keys and he was later arrested.
"(We) wish to thank those members of the public for their quick actions that prevented the man from leaving the area," Tasmania Police said in a statement.
The man has been disqualified from driving for a year and is expected to face Launceston Magistrates Court in October.
