Parrot befriends Amazon Alexa and 'goes on shopping spree'

A cheeky parrot has struck up a rather unusual friendship with a device inside its home.

Rocco, an African Grey, reportedly speaks to its owner’s Amazon Alexa daily, and even makes purchases through the virtual assistant.

The Sun reports Rocco has added to his owner’s shopping list, requesting items like ice cream, strawberries, watermelon, raisins and broccoli.

The African Grey has also used Alexa to buy light bulbs, a kettle and even a kite.

His owner Marion Wischenewski, from the National Animal Welfare Trust in Berkshire in England, told The Sun Rocco also had quite an eclectic music taste, requesting anything from romantic tunes to Kings of Leon.

“Rocco and Alexa chat away to each other all day. Then I have to check the shopping list and cancel all the items he’s ordered,” Ms Wischenewski said.
