Parents' heartbreak as boy, 10, dies after being hit by van
A 10-year-old boy has died in hospital three days after he was hit by a van in Melbourne.
Jack Power, from Croydon, was knocked down as he crossed Springfield Road in Blackburn North, in the city’s east, on Saturday evening.
The boy, who attended Croydon Hills Primary School, was with his six-year-old sister and a 10-year-old friend on a signal crossing when he was hit by a Toyota Hiace van.
The other two girls were not injured.

On Tuesday, Jack’s parents made the heartbreaking decision to switch off his life support.
“He always wanted to help other kids be like that too, to care more about each other,” Jack’s mother Bonnie Power told Fairfax Media on Wednesday.
Jack’s father Matt said his son was “one of those rare individuals who was always caring and compassionate about others”.
A 45-year-old driver has been interviewed by police and released as the investigation continues.
